The Spider Web variety is known for its web-like white threads that cover the rosettes, giving it a unique appearance. Here are some general guidelines to help you take care of Sempervivum Spider Web:

  1. Light:
    • Sempervivum Spider Web thrives in full sun to partial shade. They prefer at least 6 hours of sunlight per day.
    • If you’re growing them indoors, place them in a bright location, preferably near a south-facing window.
  2. Soil:
    • Use well-draining soil. A mix designed for succulents or cacti is suitable.
    • Sempervivum prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil.
  3. Watering:
    • Water sparingly. These plants are adapted to dry conditions and are susceptible to root rot if overwatered.
    • Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry.
    • Water more frequently during the growing season (spring and summer) and reduce watering in the dormant season (fall and winter).
  4. Temperature:
    • Sempervivum Spider Web is cold-hardy and can tolerate freezing temperatures. In fact, exposure to cooler temperatures can intensify their colors.
    • Protect them from excessive heat, especially in warmer climates.
  5. Container:
    • If growing in containers, ensure that the pots have drainage holes to prevent waterlogged soil.
  6. Fertilization:
    • Sempervivum generally doesn’t require a lot of fertilization. You can apply a balanced, diluted, liquid fertilizer during the growing season, but it’s not necessary.
  7. Pests and Diseases:
    • Sempervivum are generally resistant to pests and diseases. However, overwatering can lead to issues such as root rot.
  8. Propagation:
    • Sempervivum Spider Web can be propagated easily by removing offsets (small rosettes) that grow around the base of the main plant. Allow the offset to dry for a day or two before planting it in soil.
  9. Winter Care:
    • While Sempervivum are cold-hardy, it’s a good idea to provide some protection during particularly harsh winter conditions, especially if you’re in an area with heavy snow or prolonged freezing temperatures.
  10. Grooming:
    • Remove any dead or dried-up leaves to maintain the plant’s appearance and encourage healthy growth.
